If you want to remove or hide the username from the terminal on Mac, follow these simple steps.

1. Open your Terminal App on Mac
2. Go to Menu Terminal > Preferences
3. Go to the Profiles tab
4. In the run command field, insert this code:
   export PROMPT=” $”;clear;

Now when you restart the terminal, all you see is an empty screen with a dollar sign.

If you wish to replace the dollar sign with anything else, look for the $ dollar sign in the code and replace it with anything you want.
